Welcome to Marinda Swartz Art!

As a contemporary fine artist based in Cape Town South Africa, I create unique art that transcends the boundaries of reality and explore the spiritual and natural world.

My art celebrates the beauty of my inner world , inspired by the breath taking wonders of the picturesque landscapes of my rural upbringing in North West. It reflects the diverse beauty I've encountered through extensive travel in South Africa, where the natural world is varied and stunning. Every piece is unique and created with careful attention to detail.

I believe in the power of art to tell stories, inspire, and create meaningful connections.

I create art that is both imaginative and emotionally stirring.

My focus is on Pop Surrealism and fine oil paintings.  I strive to capture the essence of beauty, life and emotion in each of my pieces.

My art expresses the eccentric, sometimes bizarre characters and stories that inhabit my imagination to create a visual narrative.

My style includes line drawing and graphic flat areas to explore the Japanese culture of manga, anime and printmaking. Majestic mountains, dramatic clouds, detailed fields of flowers and beautiful skies fill the picture plane.

Other influences include graffiti after being an exchange student to Germany in 1992, illustration, fantasy art and comic books bringing popular culture elements into my work.

I travelled to London in 1996 and visited museums and art galleries that influenced my love for Surrealism, symbolism and pop art.

My paintings delve into the subconscious, using surrealism to connect the unconscious and conscious mind. With dreamlike imagery and surprising combinations, it encourages viewers to explore the complex layers of the psyche.

The artworks act as a symbol of the journey of self-discovery, prompting viewers to think more about who we are and how we are connected through our shared human experiences.

Through vivid colors and detailed brushwork, I bring to life characters that explore the divine feminine and aspects of Jungian psychology.

My artwork is a reflection of my playful personality and my commitment to creating original and captivating artwork.
